Recent Public Hearings & Expansion of KRTplus Zones

KRT hosted public hearings on Tuesday, June 24th and Friday, June 27th.

KRT’s Board approved these changes at the July board meeting. The changes below will be executed over the next several months. KRT will provide passengers at least 3 weeks of notice and information before making any changes.

These hearings were conducted to seek public input on proposed changes to service on the following routes:

  • #10 City Park/Northgate/Hillcrest
  • #11 Wertz Avenue
  • #13 Beech Avenue
  • #15 South Hills
  • #16 South Park
  • #18 Fort Hill/Montrose

KRT plans to replace partial or full fixed route service of these routes with on-demand KRT Plus service for passengers. This is being proposed due to the high cost-per-passenger rate of the above fixed routes. The routes above ranged from a cost of $24-$48 per passenger in April 2025, when the industry standard is $5-$7 per passenger. KRT believes that we owe it to our riders and taxpayers to look at alternatives that deliver better value with the same funding.

The attached images show current service vs. the proposed expansion of KRT Plus and decreased fixed route service of the routes list above.
